Safety is of paramount importance to everyone at Bexley Castles. Our equipment is bought brand new from leading British manufacturers and complies with BS EN14960:2013. Each individual item is tested by qualified RPII (Register of play inspectors international) or PIPA (Pertexa Inflatable Play Accreditation) persons prior to us taking delivery which meets the guidelines set out by the governments Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Testing

The current HSE guidelines for the safety inspection of bouncy castles is to comply with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment regulations (PUWER), which states an annual inspection of each bouncy castle should be carried out annually by a competent person. To issue a successful test certificate the inspector must ensure that the inflatable is manufactured and complies with BS EN14960 regulations which dictates safe design, manufacture, flame resistance, fit for purpose and in a good state of repair.

Insurance

We hold public liability insurance up to 5 million, which provides cover for you should anything happen due to the fault of us or our employee or equipment. Insurance is included as part of bouncy castle hire along with delivery, set up and collection to all our service areas

Training

All our staff are provided with full training and are informed with all the latest industry standards. Every item is set up by a trained person who will ensure manufactures guidelines have been followed. A complete run through of the set up which will include our responsibility, the hirers and all the do's and dont's will be provided before any persons are permitted to use any of the equipment.

Weather conditions

For outdoor hires there is an element of potential impact due to bad weather conditions. Unless informed prior to the day we will turn up as per the agreed booking terms. There are some conditions whereby usage of the equipment is not permitted which include heavy rain and high winds and the hirer is responsible for ensuring the correct usage upon receipt of the equipment

Method Statement

1. Upon arrival the driver and any other staff will take note of any safety information and adhere to the site rule at all times
2. Representative will seek out the hirer or venue reception to advise of our arrival
3. The driver will ensure that whilst the delivery vehicle is on a designated carriageway the rules of that specific highway will be followed at all times
4. If required to take the vehicle off road the vehicle will not permit 10mph
5. A site inspection will be carried out to ensure its safe suitability for the hired inflatables and equipment
6. Any impeding objects such as stones will be removed from the set up location
7. The equipment will be laid out and unfolded in the agreed locations
8. Any cables will be run around the outside of the erection site and where possible placed away from walking areas to reduce the risk of tripping
9. The blower will be checked and output matched to the corresponding equipment before attaching
10. The pipe will be set at an angle of 90 degrees to the inflatable with a distance of 1.4m away from the rear of the equipment in order to meet BS EN14960.
11. The blower will be checked to ensure it is not twisted or bent in anyway that prohibits inflation
12. Any zips or additional vents will then be checked and secured
13. The equipment will then be secured to the ground via the anchor points with 16mm x 380mm steel pegs to meet BS EN14960. The securing points are dependent on site, equipment, location and will be determined on site. When erecting on a hard surface weights or sandbags will be used instead of pegs as depending on the site further guide ropes may be sued to secure to a fixed object.
14. Any high level anchor points will be secured using rope from the inflatable to the ground and secured in the same vein, 16mm x 380mm steel pegs, to meet BS EN14960
15. Safety matting will be placed into position where required
16. Any guests or other persons are not permitted to enter the set up area until completion
17. Once inflated a trained representation will perform further checks to confirm the correct set up
18. Once a safety briefing has been completed with the supervising person the equipment is ready to use
19. The hirer is responsible for supervision of the equipment and its correct and safe usage at all times
20. The hirer is responsible for monitoring the weather and any changes to ensure it is only used in safe conditions. In the event of rain all users should be taken from the equipment and once stopped the equipment should be dried before usage recommences
21. If a generator is required the hirer will check on the fuel level at hourly intervals. If the tank is under 1/3 full then the inflatable will be deflated and the tank refilled. Any fuel cans to be stored out of the reach of minors
22. Upon completion of the event the equipment must be evacuated by all users before deflation
23. Once deflation has been completed, all pegs, cables, blowers and mats will be removed
24. The equipment will then be packed back up and all taken back to the vehicle
25. The area will be checked by a representative to ensure everything has been removed
26. The vehicle will depart the site in accordance to the site rules
